Nepal flood relief project
After the flood, Christian children and families need a way forward.
After the flood, Christian children and families need a way forward.
Many children in Nepal have lost their parents, their homes, their school. On 26 August 2026, flash floods tore through northern Rasuwa and downstream areas of Nuwakot.
Nepal’s education ministry says around 9,430 children across the flood-affected districts have been directly affected. At least 100 have lost both parents. Many schools have become holding centres for families who lost their homes, so classes cannot restart.
After a disaster like this, children who have lost their parents can also be more exposed to exploitation, including trafficking and unsafe migration. Homes, roads and schools were swept away or damaged. Across the flood-affected areas, Nepal Police report 4,720 people still missing as of 11 October, and the Nepali Government’s rapid assessment counts 8,317 households affected across five districts.
Our local partner will work with local churches and local authorities, so relief is shared fairly and Christian families and children are not left out.
Where your gift goes
Twelve months of education support gives christian children who have lost one or both parents a place at school and a safe place to be. It covers school fees, uniforms, hygiene kits, stationery and out-of-school care, and helps reduce the risk of trafficking and unsafe migration. You can give towards a child’s schooling one month at a time.
Families who lost their homes need the basics too. Kitchen kits give a family the basics to cook and drink safely: cooking stoves, cooking vessels, stainless steel utensils, gas, water containers and basic food supplies, depending on what each community needs.
One mother of two, in a holding centre in Nuwakot, put the need simply:
“The only thing is, we don’t have a stove or gas to cook food with, so that’s been the main problem.”
The first $20,000
The full project costs $36,252 and will reach about 80 households, or around 180 people. The first $20,000 is needed by December, and that is what we are asking you to help us reach this Christmas.
Anything given above $20,000 will go towards the second stage, due by March.
This is at the core of who we are: from Christians, through Christians, to Christians. Your gift reaches brothers and sisters through the people who know them best.
How you can give
Your gift will help grow, pack and deliver free seed, and train families to farm well.
Or contribute towards the whole project. Amounts are approximate, based on current costs and exchange rates.

On the donation form, please choose Nepal Flood Relief, BRD005.
Your gift will be used for the purpose you choose. If that need is fully met, or circumstances on the ground change, it will go to a similar humanitarian need in the same country or, if that is not possible, in the same region.

How you can pray
Father, we pray for the families in Nepal who lost their homes in the flood. Comfort those who are grieving, and be close to the children who have lost their parents. Provide shelter, food and a safe place to learn. Protect the vulnerable from harm. Strengthen the churches and our local partner serving their neighbours. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
